Boy it takes all kinds of people. Unfortunately she doesn't comprehend the laws. Even if lets say this was a service dog. Which a service animal must be trained to do specific tasks to benefit her needs. The dog was doing inappropriate behaviour henceforth the store could indeed refuse her dog in. Especially being the handler was not taken control.

However this doesn't sound like such a situation due to the fact that she most likely aren't a person with a disability. Therapy dogs she should have known aren't covered under the ADA. So why in the first place mention that. People for some reason got the laws wrong. They have this thing that service dogs / animals have legal rights. But the animals don't it's the person with disabilities that have the legal right to be accompanied by a Individually trained service dog that performs specific tasks to benefit said individual. It's not the other way around. Not all service dog teams carry ID's this is not required.

Fortunately or unfortunately if she did make a scene stores may not want to pursue it. However if they did then she would indeed have to show documentational proof. 1. She is a qualified person with a disability. 2. The animal in question is indeed a Individually Trained service dog. And actually 3. That said dog wasn't unruly or inappropriate behaviour. I doubt she could even show proof to one thing.

Awww. Best of luck to Sophie. Those older pups have such a hard time of it. I hope she gets the surgery she needs and finds a forever home.

Thanks for Blogging the Change.

You have my permission...and you would probably enjoy the book Save A Spaniel that I reviewed on Jan. 1st. (favorite dog books category). It's written by a very clever spaniel!

I took your advice and got my Kleenex. This is such a sweet essay. I love how our dogs think...yes, I know my dog thinks the same way too. Now this makes me want to go out there and let about a dozen more dogs rescue me!

That's a cute idea they had for a contest. It's so funny how dogs actually look like they're smiling. I'll have to go vote for my favorite!
